Photographs, The 2L Crate Engine

The 2L crate engine is made in several factories but early engines were likely to be made in the USA. Later engines may be imported from Mexaco.
The USA built engines are of good quality and finish, but the Mexican engines less so.
Quality issues relate mainly to castings and assembly tollerance, but are unlikely to impact a performance build.
Early engines have few components fitted beyond the basic short engine and head, newer crate engines are supplied more complete with full induction, flywheel and clutch.
In practice, and depending on your spec, only the head, block, main bearings, crank, and seals will be used.
